CHIA The Host and Fiscal Sponsor of the Chumash Artist Guild
The Chumash Artist Guild comprises a diverse ensemble of artists, singers, dancers, storytellers, filmmakers and entrepreneurs who passionately represent the essence of the Chumash people. At the core of our endeavor is the establishment of an internship/mentorship program that serves as a gateway to the vibrant tapestry of Chumash culture. This initiative not only imparts knowledge but also nurtures skills in traditional and contemporary arts, paving the way for a sustainable shared economy. Our primary goals include hiring Chumash and other indigenous educators to train students in Chumash material culture arts. By doing so, we not only aim to preserve and pass down traditional knowledge but also to create job opportunities, ensuring multigenerational sustainability for both the people and the land.
